8:39p Omens?
Yesterday, I woke up promptly at 6:30 am. This was unusual, since my alarm had not gone off. Curious, I looked over and found that I had forgotten to reset it to the proper time... it was set for 8:30. I don't believe in omens, but I figured the fact that I woke up EXACTLY on time without the assistance of an annoying buzzer, meant I should get my ass out of bed, not worry about snooze, and get to work. Turned out it was completely unnecessary, as my boss (along with most of the office) was taking the week off for Christmas. Hell, I could probably have stayed home all day and no one would have noticed.
Today, I found myself in an exceedingly good mood. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was because, with no one at work, I have the office all to myself all day and don't have to deal with any crap. Or maybe it was because the nice cashier at Best Buy waived the sales tax on my purchase of "District 9", so by using my $20 reward zone certificate, I didn't even have to pay the $1.10. Then again, maybe it was because Christmas is only 2 days away. Or maybe it is because moving back to SD is getting so close I can SMELL it. March 1st is my deadline, and that's only about 9 weeks away.
So I'm wondering, should I take it as a bad sign that the woman I've been working with at one of the temp agencies out there, told me today that she was laid off due to the bad economy?

10:41a Ride back to Flagstaff after Christmas?
Hi everyone!
I posted this earlier, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to put it out there again as I still haven't found a ride. :(
I'm spending the holidays in New Mexico and I was looking to carpool with someone on the way back to Flag after Christmas (like the 27th or the 28th but I'm flexible). I live in Santa Fe, but I would be able to make it to Albuquerque if necessary, so anyone leaving from either there, or passing through that might have some extra room in their car, I'd be willing to split gas money/bring snacks whatever.
I'm just really trying to avoid the insanity that is the Greyhound, so please let me know if you can help me out! Thanks. :)

12:57a Green is the New Red
Am I the only one who finds the following headline about "global warming" disturbing?
Climate Reality: Voluntary Measures Not Enough
Well what exactly does that mean? I, like most people who are reading this blog right now, live on this planet. And I, like most people reading this blog right now, would like this planet to be a clean place for myself and future generations. However, I, like any other CLEAR-THINKING person, also realize that "the planet" is just fine. There is nothing we as humans can do that will affect the planet one way or the other. We may fuck OURSELVES up... but the planet? She will be fine no matter WHAT we do. Even if we have a nuclear holocaust... the planet will forget we even existed and move on. After all... did she weep over the destruction of the dinosaurs?
So, I've already had my fears about the Obama administration and their tendencies towards Communism. And before you start mocking me, I would like to remind you of all the posts many of you left regarding the Bush administration and Fascism. I only HOPE I am as wrong as you all were.
But the kind of rhetoric I am hearing frightens me. This whole "global warming" thing strike me as nothing more than a means to an end. We have to "save the planet." And if that means we must sacrifice some of our rights... well... it is all for the best, right? Remember you Bush-bashers who were afraid we were sacrificing our civil liberties in the name of "national security?" And yet here we are, post-Bush... with all our rights intact. But NOW the danger is in giving up our rights in the name of "going green." So when the government tells us what kind of cars we can buy, and how far we can drive each year, and how many airline flights we can take, and how much garbage we can throw away, and Hell, since CO2 is now a "dangerous gas"... how often we can EXHALE... will the same people be complaining about civil rights? I mean, after all "voluntary measures are not enough." I guess that means the GOVERNMENT has to tell us what to do. Kind of like this health care bill... which will now REQUIRE us to buy health insurance, whether we want to or not.
And no, this is NOT the same as being required to have car insurance. Because we are not REQUIRED to drive. If we don't want to buy a car... if we want to "go green" and ride a bike to work, we don't HAVE to buy car insurance. We only have to buy car insurance if we WANT to drive a car. But this bill will FORCE us to buy health insurance whether we want it or not. Whether we go to the doctor or not.
This is COMMUNISM, my friends. And you know what, I don't want to live in a communist, or a socialist country. If I did, I would move to Europe.
I WANT a cleaner planet. I think EVERYONE does. No one like pollution. No one likes having to breathe in smog. But I DO NOT want the government TELLING me what to do. Do you?
